Your BIM implementation,
step by step.
Implement BIM on your project with clear, well-established steps per ISO 19650. Move phase by phase, tick each activity and track your progress — your progress is saved in this browser.
Governance & roles
Set the BIM authority and the information management function before modeling. Define who leads, who produces and who approves, using ISO 19650 terminology (appointing party, lead appointed party, appointed parties).
Information requirements
Translate business objectives into clear information requirements. From OIR and PIR/AIR you derive the EIR (Exchange Information Requirements): what information is needed, for which decision, in what format and by when.
BEP & mobilization
The team answers the EIR with a BEP (BIM Execution Plan): pre-appointment to bid and post-appointment to deliver. Capability and capacity are assessed, and the MIDP/TIDP is built with owners and dates.
Common Data Environment
Set up the CDE as the single source of truth. Establish states WIP → Shared → Published → Archived, file naming and review/approval workflows with traceability.
Model production (WIP)
Collaborative production of information in WIP state per the BEP standards, methods and procedures. Model to the agreed LOIN on shared coordinates with consistent data parameters.
Coordination & quality
Model federation and cross-model information control. Clash detection cycles, quality review (QA/QC) and approval before sharing. No model is coordinated unless it passes the minimum validations.
Information delivery
Formal delivery of the Project Information Model (PIM) at the agreed milestones. It is reviewed and authorized against the EIR and MIDP; the state moves to Published / Approved for construction (AFC/AFD).
As-built & operation
Project close-out and transition to operation. The as-built PIM feeds the Asset Information Model (AIM) per the AIR, enabling management and maintenance during the operational phase (ISO 19650-3).
